Dr. Nasim wins Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012 – Engineering award

Dr S. Nasim, Global CEO of Meinhardt Group International, wins the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year - Engineering award. He is one of the five winners selected for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year 2012 awards. The winners received their awards at the Ernst & Young EOY Awards Gala on November 27 at The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore.

64-year-old Dr. S Nasim’s career as a Professional Structural Engineer spans more than three decades. He has built a regional reputation for providing highly innovative, buildable and cost-effective solutions for tall buildings and complex infrastructure projects. As the Global CEO, Dr. Nasim is responsible for the performance of all Meinhardt offices across the globe, client management and providing input to all the major projects undertaken by the Group. Dr. Nasim has been highly instrumental in the Group’s expansion and diversification of its international business as well as forging strategic alliances with other international companies – in complementary areas – to strengthen company’s market positioning.

Under Dr Nasim’s leadership, Meinhardt has performed consistently as one of the top engineering firms globally, an accomplishment the firm has achieved by building and sustaining competitive advantages through innovation.

At Meinhardt Group International Ltd, Dr. Nasim encourages his engineering staff to embrace a commercial perspective. Teams are inculcated with the mentality to design award-winning projects, which in turns challenges them to find ways to innovate. In 2011, Meinhardt set up a Group Design Division whose role is to promote design innovations, and encourage the customization of engineering solutions and set standards across the Group.

Sharing his thoughts on being an EOY winner, Dr Nasim says: “I’m honored as I didn’t think an engineer like me could win such a prestigious award. It proves that anyone can succeed by having a positive attitude towards adversity and being open to exploring new ideas. In fact in engineering some of our very complex projects like One Raffles Quay, Marina Bay Financial Centre and OUB Centre we had to innovate solutions not commonly used. Meinhardt’s success is largely attributable to the commitment and support of our highly talented staff and directors and the support of our clients and not the least my family.”
