Box Hill Hospital Redevelopment

Location: Box Hill, Victoria

Country: Australia

Client: Department of Health Victoria

Architect: Silver Thomas Hanley & Jackson Architecture

Services Provided: Civil, Structural Engineering

This project incorporates approximately 50,000 m2 of new hospital facilities over 11 levels.

This Government funded project is required to meet a non negotiable maximum budget of $447.5M. As a key and active participant in the design process, Meinhardt contributed in a number of Value Management Workshops to work the project into the budget. We carried out alternative designs of civil infrastructure, assisting the client to balance cost and risk mitigation in an informed process.

We prepared an Early Works Package of documentation for the retention system and basement excavation, to allow works on site to commence whilst the superstructure design was finalised and the contractor appointed under a Guaranteed Maximum Sum.
